As of today, I have had this blog for exactly one year.
I don’t really know what to do to celebrate this occasion, so I kind of went for an Easy Option, the kind of ‘are you stuck do this’ tactic. A tag!
I have actually been tagged in a tag, but that one is one I’ll need to seriously think about and pour time and effort (that I don’t have) into, so I did a quick Google search to find the ‘Fifty Bookish Questions Tag’.
I found this on My Little Book Blog’s blog (I don’t know who created it, sorry), and thought it looked like fun. Which is why I’m doing it! Because revision and exams are eating my mind right now and I need relief…
1) What was the last book you read?
Technically Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote (three stars), but I also finished the audiobook of Bossypants by Tina Fey which was a solid 5.
2) Was it a good one?
Well… Breakfast at Tiffany’s is kinda meh. Bossypants is amazing, though, and I adore Tina Fey so it was a joyous read/listen.
3) What made it good?
Like… I didn’t really like Capote’s writing style, but Tina Fey is AMAZING (she’s a feminist, a comedian, basically goals in every category).
4) Would you recommend it to other people?
Only if you like slow plots and YES.
5) How often do you read?
I try to read a bit every day, but maybe every couple recently.
6) Do you like to read?
*has a blog dedicated to books and writing and reviewing* No, I detest reading. Books make me physically sick.
7) What was the last bad book you read?
This review copy of a book I got through NetGalley. Every Secret Thing by Rachel Crowther. Yeah… It wasn’t good.
8) What made you dislike it?
Too many characters with the same personality, LGBT characters coming out used as a plot twist, too many plot twists, annoying characters, cheating just glossed over…
9) Do you wish to be a writer?
Definitely. It’s literally all I’ve ever wanted to do with my life.
10) Has any book ever influenced you greatly?
Probably the Skulduggery Pleasant series. They made me the reader I am today.
11) Do you read fanfiction?
Yup.
12) Do you write fanfiction?
Yes. Or at least I used to. No, you aren’t getting my username out of me.
13) What’s your favourite book?
The Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy, the Newbury and Hobbes series by George Mann, anything by Patrick Ness or Neil Gaiman – my favourite book of all time is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
14) What’s your least favourite book?
Maybe City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, The DUFF by Kody Keplinger or Fever by Dee Schulman.
15) Do you prefer physical books or ebooks?
Ebooks are better for space and buying books without going outside, but I love me a physical book any day of the week.
16) When did you learn to read?
I think I was five. Maybe five and a half. In any case, I refused to read aloud to any teacher I had and therefore spent my entire primary school life not being allowed to read the interesting non-Oxford Reading Tree books. I hated primary school.
17) What is your favourite book that you had to read in school?
I love The Handmaid’s Tale, which I’m studying for my A-Level. I also love Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde which I did for GCSE.
18) What is your favourite book series?
Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy or Newbury and Hobbes by George Mann. The former is about a skeleton detective, the latter is a steampunk Sherlock Holmes tribute. See a common theme?
19) Who is your favourite author?
Neil Gaiman or Patrick Ness.
20) What is your favourite genre?
I don’t even know how to answer this question. I like most, if not all, genres.
21. Who is your favourite character in a book series?
I haven’t ever really thought about this question before… My first instinct is to say Hermione Granger. Or Yvaine from Stardust.
22. Has a book ever transported you somewhere else?
Always. I’d send it back if it didn’t.
23.Which book do you wish had a sequel?
I think I’m chill on the sequel front, honestly.
24. Which book do you wish didn’t have a sequel?
Again… I’m chill. I’m a chill gal.
25. How long does it take you to read a book?
Oooooh… It varies. Anything from a couple of hours to a few weeks, depending on my attention span.

Occasionally…
27. Which book was ruined by its movie adaptation?
I don’t really know, to be honestly. Maybe The Maze Runner, even though I dislike the book and the movie equally.
28. Which movie has done a book justice?
Ooooh… Stardust.
29. Do you read newspapers?
Not really. I read The Guardian online though.
30: Do you read magazines?
Normally just Doctor Who Magazine or some odd cycling magazines.
31. Do you prefer newspapers or magazines?
Neither, honestly. Well, I like magazines. I’m not a newspaper reader.
32. Do you read while in bed?
ALWAYS. EVERY DAY.
33. Do you read while on the toilet?
Heh… Always.
34. Do you read while in the car?
I mean… I try to. But I tend to get terrible headaches when I read in the car, which is never much fun.
35. Do you read while in the bath?
I don’t really take baths? I’m a shower kinda gal.
36. Are you a fast reader?
Yes. That I am.
37. Are you a slow reader?

38. Where is your favorite place to read?
In my bed. Every time. Or curled up on the sofa.
39. Is it hard for you to concentrate while you read?
Not really, honestly. I can read in a crowded room with the tv on, in class, in the middle of a Trump protest rally, whereever.
40.Do you need a room to be silent while you read?
Again… See above.
41. Who gave you your love for reading?
Probably YOUR MUM. No but haha it was my mum. Not yours. Your mum wishes it was her, though.
42. What book is next on your list to read?
I’ve got a lot of current reads on the go at the moment. But I think it’s going to probably be What’s a Girl Gotta Do? by Holly Bourne.
43. When did you start to read chapter books?
I don’t remember…?
44. Who is your favorite children’s book author?
Derek Landy, if he counts. Or Enid Blyton, because I love the St. Clare‘s series.
45. Which author would you most want to interview?
George Mann, because I love his book series AND he’s written for Doctor Who as well.
46. Which author do you think you’d be friends with?
I’d like to think it would be J.K. Rowling… Although I don’t think I’d get along with her.

The Skulduggery Pleasant series.
48. Which books do you consider “classics”?
Old books that lots of people like to talk about. Also, books that Oxford likes you to read before you start a degree course there.
49. Which books do you think should be taught in every school?
Probably something really significant, like 1984 or Brave New World.
50. Which books should be banned from all schools?
NONE. STOP BANNING BOOKS PEOPLE.
